Twitter account belonging to the 45th President of the United States, Donald John Trump has been reinstated.
Elon Musk, the new CEO of the Social media platform had set up a poll on Saturday, November 20 seeking the opinion of users on the platform on whether the former President should be reinstated or not. With a slim margin, the “Yes” won.
More than 15 million users voted in the poll. While the “No” garnered 48% votes, the “Yes” had 52%.
“The people have spoken. Trump will be reinstated,” Musk said in a tweet.
In January 2021, Trump was accused of instigating violence through incendiary tweets during the Capitol Hill riots. He was subsequently banned by Twitter on January 8, 2021.
This is coming days after the former president declared his intention to contest for president in 2024.
